Learn to Drift a BMW E36 in Buenos Aires
A real rear-wheel-drive BMW, with your instructor right beside you
TROMPO is a drift school on a private closed pad at El Picódromo, Esteban Echeverría, south of Greater Buenos Aires. You drive their white BMW E36 328i: 2.8-litre inline-six, rear-wheel drive, 5-speed manual, limited-slip differential and coilovers set up for drift. Your instructor sits in the passenger seat, one on one, for the whole session, and can take the wheel or the handbrake.
You don't need any drift experience, and you don't need to know how to drive a manual: you pull away with the clutch, then the car stays in one gear and you work the steering and the throttle. Stalling a couple of times is fine. Drift is not about speed, it's about control. You start slowly and set the pace yourself.
Packages
- Drift Experience, 60 min (USD 500): recommended for a first time. The basics plus transitions, lines and angle control. In 30 minutes most of the time goes on getting used to the car; the full hour is when you really find out if drift is for you.
- Drift Intro, 30 min (USD 300): a shorter taste. Basics only: launch, countersteer and donuts.
- Shared Hour for Two (USD 500 total): one 60-minute block, two drivers, 30 minutes each at the wheel. For couples or friends.
- Pro Driver Course, 5 × 60 min (USD 2,000): the full drift course, from beginner to drifting on your own, with a personalised program and progress tracking, spread over several track days. If you've already done a Drift Experience, that hour counts and the remaining 4 sessions are USD 1,500.
How the 60-minute session works
- Arrival: come 15 minutes early and sign the one-page participant form (bring your ID or passport).
- Safety briefing: mandatory before you drive. Helmet on, seatbelt fastened.
- Getting used to the car: pulling away, steering and throttle, with the instructor beside you.
- The basics: launch, countersteer, donuts.
- Intermediate technique: transitions, lines and angle control.
- Cooling pauses: about every 3 drift laps the car rests for 3 to 4 minutes to cool the tyres and the radiator. They're part of the class.
- Final feedback: what went well and what to work on next.
The briefing, the pauses and the feedback all happen inside your hour.
What's included

Not included, and worth knowing
- No racing suit or gloves: you drive in your own clothes. Wear long trousers, a top with sleeves and closed flat shoes with thin soles.
- No photos or video in the package. Sometimes the school films as a bonus. You can bring someone to film you.
- No insurance of any kind. Track insurance for the car isn't sold in Argentina, and there's no personal accident cover, so bring your own medical coverage. If you damage the car through your own fault (for example by ignoring the instructor), you pay the actual, proven repair cost under the school's contract.
- Stock interior: factory seats and seatbelts, no roll cage or harnesses. Safety comes from the closed pad, low speeds, the helmet, the briefing and the instructor beside you.
- Only you and the instructor ride in the car during your class.
- Language: classes are in Spanish or Russian. If you need English, tell us before booking and we'll check with the school.
Requirements
- 18 or older. No driving licence needed: it's a private closed circuit.
- Zero alcohol, drugs or impairing medication.
- Not suitable with heart conditions, epilepsy, recent neck or back injuries, or during pregnancy.
When and where
El Picódromo, Av. Olimpo 80, 9 de Abril, Esteban Echeverría, Province of Buenos Aires. Get there by car, taxi or Uber.
Classes run on Wednesdays 10:00–17:00 and some Thursdays 14:00–21:00. Never on weekends. Rain doesn't cancel the class: a wet pad actually makes it easier to slide.
Booking and cancellation
Reserving here on RaceDay is free: we contact you on WhatsApp to agree the day and the hour. A 50% deposit then holds your date (USD 250 for the Drift Experience or the Shared Hour, USD 150 for the Intro); the rest is paid at the track before you drive. For the Pro Driver Course, payment terms are agreed on WhatsApp when you sign up. Gift certificates are paid in full upfront. Prices are in USD; if you pay in pesos, the amount at the day's rate is shown before you pay. You receive a contract by WhatsApp to accept before the class.
Reschedule for free with 48 hours' notice. With less notice or a no-show, the deposit may be kept. If the class can't run for reasons outside your control, you choose a new date or a full refund.
